Film Noir- Cinematic term for stylish dramas from the 1940's and 1950's, that involve private eyes, policemen, dark cities, jaded characters, femme fatales, low lighting, heavy dialogue, and crime.

Neo Noir- Term used to describe newer movies that knowingly reference film noir elements.

Science Fiction Noir or Future Noir- Combines elements of science fiction and noir.

Femme Fatales- Deadly, beautiful, usually wealthy, seductive women.
